Winter is on its way and that means au revoir to singlets and sandles and hello to sleeves and stockings!
A change of season is a great way to give your wardrobe a refresh so here are our top 5 tips for getting your wardrobe pre-winter ready.
Tip 1: Get Cleaning
Possibly the worst part of a wardrobe overhaul is the cleaning phase but it is a necessary evil! Be ruthless and clear out all the old items that you know you won’t wear again. Keep basics that can be worn season to season and pack away the items that you are keeping but don’t wear often.
Tip 2: Improve Your Storage
Improving your storage system doesn’t necessarily mean an entire wardrobe refit. We simply love this customisable Neata shelving system from Howards Storage World. The system can be tailored to suit your space and budget and can be installed at a fraction of the price of custom joinery. Apart from being seriously stylish – it’s also practical too as you’ll be able to easily see and access your wardrobe items.
Tip 3: Group Like Items
Group your clothing into like items. For instance, t-shirts, pants, shoes, dresses, sweaters etc. Grouping items not only looks great but is also a handy time saver – you won’t be rummaging through your wardrobe looking for items if they have a dedicated go to space.
Tip 4: Be Smart With Those Shoes
Shoes can be a big issue in wardrobes as they take up space and well – we generally have a lot of them!
While the clever shoe storage solution below might be a bit extreme (and clever!) there are some simple things you can do to help get those shoes in order.
Where you can, use slide out shelves or drawers or specially designed storage boxes that will enable you to stack your shoes up not out across valuable floor space!
Tip 5: Look For Small Space Solutions
Don’t forget to tidy up those smaller items such as wallets, earings, belts and accessories. Look for storage boxes and purpose built makeup drawers to house your smaller items.
